Race Info

We hold regular races throughout the summer, from early April to late September, see our Fixture Schedule. Most of these are on Sunday, but extra races are held on Bank Holidays and occasionally on a Saturday.

There are two local regattas: Teignmouth Regatta is held at the end of July and Shaldon Regatta is held on the August Bank Holiday weekend at the end of August. Shaldon Sailing Club members compete in both these regattas.

A variety of dinghies race with the Club including Lasers; RS Fevas; RS Vision; Comet Versa; Otters; Solo; Enterprise; Topper & Mirrors. Most of the races are ‘All-In Handicap’ races using the Portsmouth Yardstick Numbers, so it does not matter if you have a dinghy not listed above.

We have a large number of Cups that have been presented to the Club over the years. These are presented to the winners of the various races each year at the ‘Prize Giving’ Social, held in mid October.

Safety: All races are accompanied by at least one Rescue Boat which stands by any capsize to offer help if requested; tows are also offered, if it is safe to do so.
